ASU Strives For Diversity Through Admitting Out of State Students

Every year Arizona State University draws attention from students all around the United States.
Being that ASU is the largest public university in the country, it only makes sense that ASU is pulling in applicants from not just Arizona, but around the globe.
I sought out through my reporting to focus on the perspectives of out of state students and what brought them to ASU.
I sat down with ASU students Jessica Verona and Ben Thompson who are out of state students from Michigan and Oregon.
Verona and Thompson both found that ASU offered a plethora of opportunities and ways to get involved which is what ultimately drew them to come to ASU.
Verona comments on how the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication sealed the deal for her and felt the program was unlike any in the country.
Casey Thomas, involved in digital engagement and public relations for admissions services, shares insight into how ASU strives to have a diverse pool of applicants byy admitting out of state and international students.
Thomas finds that this benefits everyone by having a new perspective inside and outside of the classroom.
ASU continues to strive for diversity and give all students a chance to gain new perspective and find value in differences of voices and values.
